The Importance of Having a Call-to-Action in Your Marketing Message

Whether you’re using OnSpot Social + iPad in-store or any other form of marketing, it is ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL to have a strong Call-to-Action in your marketing message. A marketing piece with no call-to-action is simply an awareness tactic. If you want real results, you MUST ask your audience to take action on something.

With OnSpot Social you are able to create a custom message for your customers. You can customize the message copy, the font size, the font style, and the font color. We have designed OnSpot Social to be very intuitive. That said, since we are still early in the In-Store iPad trend and OnSpot has only been on the market for a short time, we highly recommend that you use the Message tab within the Administrative Section to craft a Message with a clear call-to-action. This will provide you with the best results when using OnSpot Social in your store to convert shoppers into online connections.

Set Goals for OnSpot Social

In order to craft the appropriate on-screen message for OnSpot Social you must first set a goal for your marketing initiative. Without a goal, you don’t know what you’re working to achieve, thus creating a call-to-action for your customers is even more unattainable. Here are a few goals you might have for OnSpot Social:

  • Collect Facebook Likes
  • Collect Twitter Followers
  • Collect Email Addresses
  • Collect ALL 3 Types of Connections
  • Sell more of Product X or Service Y
  • Announce an upcoming event
  • Register customers for a contest

Create a Marketing Message Based on Your Goals

Once you have your goal(s) in place it’s time to start crafting your marketing message. OnSpot Social allows you to create four custom lines of copy which can say anything you want. It’s important to keep your goals in mind when crafting your marketing message. This is your opportunity to explain to your customers what this marketing tactic is all about and what you want them to do with it. We recommend that you try a few different marketing messages over a set period of time and track which ones are working best for you. What’s great about OnSpot Social is that you can change your marketing message at anytime. It only takes a minute or two.

Feature Your Call-to-Action in Your Marketing Message

The MOST IMPORTANT piece of your marketing message is your call-to-action. Again, if you don’t have a call-to-action you’re less likely to achieve your goals because a certain percentage of your customers won’t know what you want them to do. When you are crafting your marketing message, think about what you want to achieve (ie. your goals) and then think about what your customers need to do in order for you to achieve those goals. Once you have an idea of that, put it into words and incorporate it into your marketing message. It’s important to be specific. Tell them what they should do. Based on the goals we listed above, here are a few example ‘call-to-action’ messages that you can use:

  • Tap the Facebook icon to Like Us on Facebook
  • Tap the Twitter icon to Follow Us on Twitter
  • Tap the Email icon to Subscribe to Our Email Newsletter
  • Tap one of the icons to Connect with Us
  • Tap the Facebook icon to Like Us on Facebook and Save 10% on Your Purchase
  • Tap the Email icon to Enter Our Contest

The list above provides your customers with specific instructions for interacting with OnSpot Social. By having a strong call-to-action in your marketing message you are way more likely to succeed in achieving your goals.
